NPR Senior Producer Rob Schaefer Retires

NPR’s Rob Schaefer retired this June after 40 years in media, 18 of those spent at NPR. He started in public media as a volunteer at WBFO in Buffalo, NY and remained in the media industry working for NBC and Mutual Radio Networks prior to joining the NPR team.

Schaefer was the afternoon newscast Senior Producer leading a team bringing daily news coverage and covering breaking stories for All Things Considered. His retirement was announced publicly in an article by Current, Schafer tweeting in reply, “I have put down my work tools.”
